Welcome to Sidekick
With your help we develop projects and resources to enable people on Islay and Jura with additional support needs to live life to the full.
Inclusive Islay and Jura
In 2021 Sidekick was formed by a group of volunteers on Islay and Jura. Our vision is an Inclusive Islay and Jura and our mission is to develop projects and resources to enable people on Islay and Jura with additional support needs to live life to the full.

Our Projects

Wheelchairs
Our wheelchairs are available free to hire. We have one all-terrain wheelchair located at our Dunlossit shed. This wheelchair is ideal for beaches and trail paths, and can be taken into the sea. We also have 2 lightweight general use wheelchairs located at our Port Ban shed. These are idea for anyone needing a short term loan of a wheelchair.

Pop-up Cafe
The inclusive pop up cafe provides a safe place for high school aged people and above to experience a work type environment through volunteering at our regular cafes ran at various locations on the island.
The cafe isn't about making profit. It aims to give folk a sense of purpose and fulfilment whilst being supported by others. If you or someone you know would like to participate in our Pop-Up Cafe days, please get in touch.

Cycling for All
We have a range of bikes suitable for accessible cycling and we aim to support people to get out and about and enjoy the freedom and health benefits of cycling on Islay. We have a team of trained Cycle Leaders ready to show you how to use our bikes or take you on led cycles to build your confidence. Once you have had a cycling induction and feel confident enough you will be able to borrow our bikes to organise your own adventures!
